Excuse the bad code and formatting, I am not a web developer. But it works!

It works on both Linux and Windows, I find it works best when you have VLC plugin installed.

Windows 7 Pin to Start Menu (2)

So I recently ran into a problem when setting up my new laptop. When I pinned my favourite apps to the start menu Windows would append (2) to the end of the file name, trying to rename it prompts that the shortcut already exists.

Here is what I found, the shortcut is already there but hidden in a folder located here:

%appdata%\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch\User Pinned

So either delete the hidden shortcuts in this folder and remake your pinned items in the start menu or make them non-hidden.

Hikvision NTP Problem

I ran into a problem with some of my Hikvision IP Cameras and their NTP (Network Time Protocol) update time being off even though the time zone was correct. Now what was weird was it wasn’t on all cameras(Different FW, Different Region).

What I had to do was swap the DST start and end times.

Example

Before Swapping:

After Swapping:

The start time was now the end time and the end time was now the start time. And it worked!
